They made life hard for themselves again but La Roja got there in the end, and it’s far to say a semi-final berth wasn’t expected by everybody in Spain before the tournament began.
Italy in the semi-final will be the biggest test of Luis Enrique’s tenure so far, and it will be interesting to see how they get on.
3. 🇩🇰 Denmark (👍 Previously: 4)
Yet the Danes keep going from strength to strength and it feels like a new player steps up and does something brilliant for them each match.
England in the semi-final will be a tough game for Kasper Hjulmand’s side, but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they caused another upset.
2. Italy
They’re a great side who should be considered the favourites against Spain in the semi-final, but whether they are definitely the best team at this tournament is suddenly up for debate.
1. England
The unbeaten streak has been extended to five matches at Euro 2020, England have scored eight goals and conceded a big fat zero.
Yes Ukraine wasn’t the toughest test and Denmark in the semi-final will present a different kind of challenge, but Gareth Southgate has a brilliant squad and he’s managing it superbly.
Every player was excellent against Ukraine, the tactics were spot on, and the Three Lions have lots of momentum behind them.
Whisper it quietly, but this could actually be their year.
