Due to the increase in volume of packages being shipped through the US Postal System, shipping times have occasionally been longer than those estimated by either eBay or the USPS tracking tool. This is a vintage gold and silver glass tree topper with a spire shape atop two ball shapes …the top ball with wire wrapping and three small glass bell shaped ornaments dangling from curls of tinseled wire, and thelower ball trimmed with white rickrack and crocheted (or crochet-looking), flower appliques – the largerof these having red “faux rhinestone” glued to them. This comes its original box, which is fragile from age, andfrankly, not in great shape – but it serves its purpose. There are creases, large tears, and the clear plastic “window” on the lid of the box is coming unglued. Writing is on one end of the box lid and there is a missinglabel on the other end, which likely had information as to where the topper was manufactured. Fortunately, the caps on the little glass bell-shaped dangles state that this came fromWest Germany… also dates it as being made between 1950 and 1979. MEASUREMENTS just over 12.5″ (32cm) tall nearly 4″ (10cm) wide where the bells hang No damages (such as chips or cracks), noted. That being said, there are signs of wear from use and from age. There are scuffs, scratches, and losses to the inner and outer surface (mostly to the “stem” that slides over the top of the tree), of this topper. There is dust and schmutz under the wire wrapping that wasn’t easily brushed away with a small paintbrush.There are some dark spots on the lowerball shape (visible in some of the close-up photos, but not obvious from a distance… such as when it’s displayed on the top of a tree). There are areas where the gold coloring was moreheavily applied, and is darker. There are drips and gloppy areas of something (?) at the bottom opening of the topper … is this globs of the gold coloring or maybe pine sap from the trees?(I really don’t know … and haven’t tried to remove it)Some of the white flower appliques have darkened around theiredges … from age?… from the glue used to stickthem to the topper?…from our wood stove thatwe used to use?…I’m not sure what caused the darkening.
