Excellent Near Pristine! Vintage – 1940s? 1950s? – DOBBS – Beaver Ten – Brown Fedora – size 7-1/4. With all its original tags!So Dad and I are both stumped! We are having a hard time dating this great fedora! There is NO plastic headliner (that would date this to the early 1940s?) and that Knox logo appears to be from the 1950s. If anyone out there can help please write to us giving us some explanation. Please just don’t say the date, please give some reasons why you believe the dating is ???. Thank you.So the tag stating the price is $22.50 would have indicated this was a Beaver Twenty in 1940s. That tag was just sitting on the bottom of the hat box, we assume it’s original to the hat? This is why we are not certain of the dating? It is perfectly shaped! It’s a real looker! Dad and grandson needed to do very little work on this one, just a bit of cleaning and minor steaming to get the shape back to the original shape. This is one of my son’s fedoras, not out of Dad’s collection.This Beaver Ten, a great everyday hat! Currently it is shaped as a Center Dent and pinched crown but if you wanted a shape steamed into a center dent only before we ship you MUST write to us!As you can see the leather sweatband is still in excellent condition, there is no wear to the top edge (hat reed) and the sewn joint is perfect! If this was worn it was only worn less than a handful of times and stored away. After using that metal hat sizer, the leather is still so very soft it left a bit of a mark on the leather. Both Dad and I do NOT like the metal hat sizer for that reason, it’s not the first time this has happened. Though it does not affect the leather sweatband at all it’s just something that is pristine now has that mark on it. Dad is going to apply some glove oil to the leather sweatband, hoping it cleans it up again. We prefer our old fashion way that Dad and I still use to measure hats! Using a hat stretcher, just barely snugging that hat, remove the hat and then measure the circumference. But everyone wants to see the size on the hat sizer, that’s the only reason we use it.This is a medium Brown color and the picture following the picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the color. Not sure why we can’t get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions? NOTE: the oval Dobbs box is was in is bad condition so Dad has replaced it with that 8 sided Knox Hats box. That box is still in great condition! Minor paper wear and it does have its hat holding insert set. See pictures. If you DON’T want the hat box you must write to us and we will only charge $18.20 to ship the hat to you.NOTE Shipping outside the Continental USA is WITH the hat box, it’s expensive to ship. If you DO NOT want the hat box you MUST write to us before buying the hat so we can adjust the dimensions and weight. If we sent you an offer we will honor the offer after we adjust the dimensions.This hat box requires a LARGE a shipping box! Yes it costs a few more dollars but storing and displaying this beautiful hat box is the way to keep this hat in EXCELLENT condition!This Beaver Ten and is very soft and thick. We took out dad’s collection of 1950 Stetson Beaver hat, 3X 10X, 15X, 20X and the Twentyfive and This best matches a Beaver Ten, just a great everyday fedora. This is a very nice high quality hat that could be an everyday hat.Just a OUTSTANDING classic fedora.NOTE: this was just edited to now include an option for a coat trolley string. The brown one looks perfect with this fedora! This is NOT sewn onto the hat but could be by any decent tailor or the end can be trimmed off and used just as an adornment. It’s pretty easily done. This will add another $14 to the sale, please write to us if you want one and we will make those arrangements.Dad has a few different color newer 1960s Coat Trolley strings that are listed here on eBay.
