Transfer News: Liverpool plot summer swoop for Adama Traore
According to transfer news from Football Insider (h/t ESPN), Liverpool have enquired about the possibility of signing Spanish international winger Adama Traore from Wolves this summer.
Traore signed for Wolves from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, in a deal worth £18m. After a rather underwhelming debut season at the Molineux, he burst into life in the 2019/20 campaign, emerging as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old ended the 2019/20 season with an impressive return of six goals and twelve assists from 54 matches in all competitions. This past season, though, was a bit of a downer for the Spanish international, as he managed just three goals and assists apiece from 41 games.

Nevertheless, Traore seems to still have admirers at Liverpool, who are now said to be keen on signing the winger. The Reds had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old ex-Barcelona ace last year as well but ended up signing Diogo Jota instead. But they are now set to rekindle their interest in Traore. The report claims that owing to the drop in his performance levels, Liverpool will try and negotiate a lower transfer fee for Traore than the £35m that was being rumoured during the January transfer window earlier this year.
Traore, despite the underwhelming season last time out, remains a player with proven pedigree and experience in the Premier League. At 25, the Spaniard still has his best years in front of him and could potentially thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s side with his pace and directness.
