It was another thrilling Saturday in the Premier League. Here is what went down.
Liverpool v Leeds
Scorers: Salah 14′; Rodrigo 4′, Summerville 89′
The final Premier League match of the day saw Leeds beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in thrilling fashion.
An end-to-end contest, this one was an entertaining clash across 90 minutes that arguably could have ended with multiple goals. Jürgen Klopp, in particular, will be the more unhappier manager.
A mistake from the Reds handed the visitors the lead when Joe Gomez sent the ball into the box, Alisson hesitated and an electric Rodrigo was able to stab the ball home within four minutes.
Liverpool then pushed to make up for their early mistake and Mohamed Salah found the net at the other end for 1-1 ten minutes later.
Over time, Brendan Aaronson hit the woodwork for Leeds while Darwin Núñez failed to find the net on multiple occasions. Salah, Andy Robertson and Roberto Firmino all called Illan Meslier into action but couldn’t beat him.
The visiting goalkeeper, in particular, proved to be the difference on the night making nine saves.
Then in the dying moments, 20-year-old Crysencio Summerville rolled the ball past Alisson against the run of play to stun the hosts 2-1.
The result means Liverpool are ninth in the table while Leeds move out of the relegation zone and into 15th.
Fulham v Everton
Fulham hosted Everton with both sides splitting the points in a 0-0 draw.
A frantic start to proceedings saw both goalkeepers called into action early on, with Fulham winger Willian coming closest as he drew a fantastic save out of Jordan Pickford.
Everton’s best chance of the half came with five minutes remaining in the first period. A short corner routine comes to Demarai Gray who finds an unmarked James Tarkowski but the centre-back can only direct his header straight at Bernd Leno.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin put the ball in the back of the net for Everton, beating Leno at the second time of asking, only for the offside flag to come up as poor finishing at either end kept the game level.
Brighton v Chelsea
Scorers: Trossard 4′, Loftus-Cheek (OG) 14′, Chalobah (OG) 44′, Gross 90+2′; Havertz 47′
Brighton stunned Chelsea with a stunning first half performance as they beat Chelsea 4-1.
Graham Potter returned to Brighton where his Chelsea side were looking to go 10 games unbeaten under his tutelage.
Brighton were almost ahead inside five minutes but Thiago Silva made two stunning goal line clearances 30 seconds apart.
But the Seagulls did go ahead on early on as Leandro Trossard rounded Kepa and finished with aplomb.
Robert De Zerbi’s side were in complete control and doubled their lead on 14 minutes as Ruben Loftus-Cheek poked into his own goal.
This was a ridiculously open game and Chelsea should have pulled one back on 20 minutes but Roberto Sanchez pulled off a stunning save from Conor Gallagher’s header.
The Seagulls looked dangerous every time they attacked now and got their third goal right before half time as Trevor Chalobah slid in to score in his own net.
Into the second half and Chelsea immediately pulled one back as Kai Havertz headed in from close range.
But in injury time Brighton got their fourth of the afternoon thanks to Pascal Gross’s tap in.
Bournemouth v Tottenham
Scorers: Moore 23′ 47′; Sessegnon 55′; Davies 72′, Bentancur 90+1′
Tottenham left it late to come from behind and beat Bournemouth 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium.
Tottenham travelled to the south coast to take on Bournemouth, with Antonio Conte making six changes from the side that drew with Sporting.
That seem to unsettle Spurs in the opening moments as the Cherries controlled possession.
And it was the home side who got the first goal of the game as Tavernier crossed for Keifer Moore to tap in.
After the break it was Moore again who doubled Bournemouth’s lead as he netted a superb diving header.
But Tottenham pulled one back almost immediately thanks to Ryan Sessegnon’s finish.
The visitors managed to get an equaliser on 72 minutes as Ben Davies capitalised on a Mark Travers mistake and tap in.
It was all Spurs now and with virtually the last kick of the game, Rodrigo Bentancur grabbed a winner.
Newcastle v Aston Villa
Scorers: Wilson (P) 45+6′, 58′, Joelinton 59′, Almiron 69′
Newcastle kept up their brilliant run of form as they beat Aston Villa 4-0 at St James’ Park.
Aston Villa went to Newcastle but they would have to do so without new coach Unai Emery, who due to a delayed visa wasn’t on the bench.
It was a quiet opening to the match but there was a big worry early on as Emi Martinez collided with Tyrone Mings.
Around 10 minutes later Martinez went to ground again and walked off with what looked like a potential concussion.
After numerous delays the first half went way into injury time, but there was just enough left on the clock for Callum Wilson to score from the spot.
Into the second half and Newcastle got a second as Wilson latched on to Miguel Almiron’s header and tapped in.
Just a minute later the Magpies got their third as Joelinton was first to a rebound and added a third.
Almiron then bagged one of the goals of the season so far for their fourth.
Crystal Palace v Southampton
Scorers: Edouard 38′
Crystal Palace inflicted yet more pain on Southampton as they beat the Saints 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace hosted Southampton looking to bounce back from their defeat to Everton last time out.
It was a relatively quiet start to the game with Eberchi Eze having a great chance to score on half an hour, only to see his effort go wide.
Palace did score though as Odsonne Edouard finished off a fine move with a neat, close-range finish.
Brentford v Wolves
Scorers: Mee 55′; Neves 58′
Brentford and Wolves played out a 1-1 draw as Ruben Neves equalised for the east Midland side after Ben Mee’s opener.
Wolves were second bottom of the Premier League before kick off and went to west London to face a Brentford side still smarting from their 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa last time out.
It was Diego Costa who had the best chance in the early exchanges as he headed over from 10 yards.
Into the second half and it was Ben Mee who got the opening for Brentford goal as he netted from a corner.
But Wolves got one back straightaway thanks to Ruben Neves’s lovely finish from the edge of the area.
Diego Costa had been pretty poor all afternoon and then got himself sent off late on for a headbutt.
Leicester v Manchester City
Scorers: De Bruyne 49′
Kevin De Bruyne was the hero of the hour for Manchester City as his second half free kick saw them beat Leicester 1-0.
There was no Erling Haaland for Manchester City with the Norwegian goal machine missing through injury.
But it was a confident start by City with Rodri going close with a header inside the opening 12 minutes.
The visitors couldn’t turn their possession into goals though and went into the break with the game still goalless.
After the break Rodri went close again as his first time effort flew past Danny Ward in the Leicester goal but just clipped the outside of the post.
Kevin De Bruyne had had a relatively quiet game up to this point but gave City the lead on 49 minutes with a stunning free kick.
Leicester went very close to equalising soon after though as Youri Tielemans struck a brilliant volley back against the crossbar.
