Barcelona have announced the signing of legendary striker Sergio Aguero in the most classic way possible, referencing his iconic goal against Queen Park Rangers in 2012 that won Manchester City the league for the first time in the club’s history. The Argentine will sign a contract for two years, making him a Barça player till 2023.
The contract includes a €100 million release clause and no payment in transfer fee as Aguero joins as a free-agent, completing his contractual dues with Manchester City. His last game with the sky blue outfit was the Champions League final, which they lost 1-0 to Chelsea, courtesy of a first-half goal from Kai Havertz.
With the official announcement complete, Barcelona are expected to present the player to the Camp Nou at 6:15 CET, where he will sign his contract and hold a press conference with Joan Laporta in the Barcelona main offices.
Immediately after completing his move, Aguero will fly down to Argentina to join the national team to prepare for the Copa America and World Cup qualifiers set to take place in June.
