The Athletic are reporting that Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Arsenal for the permanent transfer of midfielder Joe Willock.
Mikel Arteta left the midfielder out of the squad for Arsenal’s pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur earlier on Sunday and it appears a deal has been agreed for the reported fee of around £20m.
Personal terms have yet to be agreed but it is believed Willock’s return to St.James’ Park is edging closer.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Magpies in the second half of last season, scoring eight goals for Steve Bruce’s side.
He is likely to become Newcastle’s first summer signing.
