According to the ever-reliable journalist Alfredo Martinez, Antoine Griezmann’s continuity at Barcelona is in high doubts.
In fact, if Lionel Messi will renew his contract with the Catalan club, which is reportedly a done deal, the French striker will very likely leave.
Griezmann played 99 games with Barcelona so far, scoring 35 goals while providing 17 assists. The Frenchman’s record with Blaugrana is not the worst and improving, but the financial situation at the club is at high risk, forcing the player for an exit.
Reportedly, Barcelona has to reduce the wage bill by €200 million in order to register the new signings — Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Eric Garcia. Not to mention that even Messi’s license for next season is at risk currently due to the wage bill that exceeds La Liga regulations.
With the current financial issues and packed frontline at Barcelona, everything points to Griezmann’s departure, a player who is on a significantly heavy wage.
We will have to see which teams would be interested in the 30-year-old. A player of his caliber certainly will be on radars of several European elites.
