Christian Eriksen’s future in football could be clarified in the next few days, with the Dane set to start tests which will shed light on his eligibility to return to the pitch starting tomorrow.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the 29-year-old is back in Milan and will begin consultations on tests regarding his ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrulator) tomorrow.
Eriksen is reportedly happy to be back in Milan for now, and does not wish to retire from football, and he will await the results of the test along with the team.
After the cardiac arrest he suffered during Denmark’s EURO 2020 opener against Finland, Eriksen was fitted with the ICD, and the device could prove pivotal in determining whether or not he is able to return.
Should the device be deemed to be necessary on a permanent basis then the player cannot play again in Italy due to health and safety regulations, whereas if subsequent tests reveal the implant not to be necessary on a long-term basis then there is hope that he could make his return.
