HIC HPB 210 COMB BINDING MACHINE WITH LARGE ASSORTMENT OF COMBS Here is an auction for a used HIC PUNBIN HPB 210 COMB BINDING MACHINE. This is an industrial quality tool that is all metal construction and built for heavy duty use. Our use of this machine was to produce yearly business reports – we produced perhaps 30 reports yearly of 20 pages each for approximately 8 years. Comb binding (sometimes referred to as “cerlox” or “surelox” binding) is a great way to bind pages together into a book. This method uses round plastic spines with 19 rings (for US Letter size) or 21 rings (for A4 size) and a hole puncher that makes rectangular holes. Comb binding produces durable and professional-looking documents and is very cost effective. To bind a book with this method, the curved tines are spread open and inserted through rectangular slots punched along the spinal edge of the book’s cover and pages. When the tension in the tines is released, the spine closes back into its original shape and secures the covers and pages as a unit yet allows the pages to turn freely. There are many advantages to comb binding. A comb bound book can lie flat in the open position without having to be held open. This feature makes it very well-suited for manuals, study guides, directories, user manuals, cookbooks, musical scores and other reference materials that benefit from being “hands free.” Another advantage of a comb bound book is that pages can be added or removed relatively easily. Tabbed dividers and perforated pages also work well with the comb binding method. Furthermore, the plastic combs are readily available and come in a variety of sizes to accommodate books of varying thicknesses. And comb binding can bind anything from a small document of 5-10 pages using small combs up to gigantic books of 400+ pages with the largest combs. Finally, this is a very economical binding solution as the combs are very inexpensive, extremely durable and can be re-used multiple times without outward signs of wear. Perfect for any binding use – publish your own works, make promotional materials, assemble cook books with favorite recipes, compile reports for business meetings, put together reading for kids, add an extra dash of pizzazz to a school project, bind picture albums for family, compile musical scores, the uses are endless. Even though the process is manual, the binding operation takes only a few minutes, even for the largest documets, so this is a suitable option for small to medium volume applications. There are some minor dings and scratches but the punches are sharp and provide clean rectangular holes and the comb spreading mechanism works smoothly.
