With the Premier League kick off only two weeks away, two of the heavyweights of the division met on Sunday Mikel Arteta’s and Thomas Tuchel’s teams began to formulate with players involved on international duty over the summer returned to the fray.
It was the Champions League final hero Kai Havertz who gave the visitors the lead in the first half, firing into the top corner from inside the box after being played in by Timo Werner.
But Arsenal equalised half way with 20 minutes to go when Granit Xhaka headed home from Nicolas Pépé’s corner.
The teams weren’t level for long as Abraham took advantage of a stray pass at the back to place the ball past Bernd Leno.
Arteta will feel his team were denied a draw when Joe Willock’s strike appeared to cross the line after coming off the bar but the goal was not given by the linesman.
It’s a pre-season north London derby for Arsenal next Sunday, and Chelsea also meet Tottenham next up on Wednesday.
