Phil Foden is set to spend a further month on the sidelines following the ‘unusual’ injury sustained during England’s Euro 2020 campaign.
Foden was left out of England’s final defeat to Italy at this summer’s European Championship and is now set to miss the opening weeks of the Premier League season with the foot issue.
According to the Telegraph, Foden will miss this weekend’s Premier League opener against Tottenham and will not return to the fold for Pep Guardiola’s side until after next month’s international break.
The news comes as a major blow to Guardiola who will also be missing Kevin De Bruyne for City’s first fixture due to an ankle injury, whilst Aymeric Laporte’s involvement is in doubt as the defender completes a period of self-isolation after coming into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
City will welcome back the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones this week following post-Euro 2020 holidays, however, with Gabriel Jesus and Ederson also returning following involvement in the Copa America.
