West Ham United are expected to revisit their Jesse Lingard interest before the end of the transfer window later this month…
What’s the word?
That’s according to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who delivered a fresh update on the 28-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford with less than two weeks to go until Deadline Day.
Manchester United are expected to offload some of their fringe players if they are to make any further additions and Lingard is one player that could garner a substantial fee.

NO!
Speaking to Mark Goldbridge on ‘The United Stand’ YouTube channel, he said:
“Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] is talking in a positive way about him, always. I’m told that he has fantastic professionalism, he’s training so well. He’s changed his mentality after his loan spell with West Ham. Manchester United are really happy with him.
“But West Ham will try again. It’s always been expected. We’ve said many times that in the last [few] weeks of the window West Ham will be back for Jesse Lingard. They are still waiting to decide on this position but they are still keen on Jesse Lingard. And he’s always been West Ham or Manchester United for him.
“Now they need to decide and if Manchester United will sell Jesse Lingard, then I think they [United] have an opportunity to do something else in the market. I would keep an eye on this kind of situation.”
One last attempt?
It’s no secret that the Hammers would love to see Lingard return to the London Stadium after he made a remarkable impact during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.
The England international provided David Moyes and his side with nine goals and five assists in just 16 appearances, via Transfermarkt, to help steer them into the Europa League.
After the final game of the season, the Scotsman revealed his desire to keep hold of Lingard. He said to reporters at full-time:
“I hope Jesse’s here, we’d like to keep him, he’s done an exceptional job for us but there’s no guarantees, he’s not our player. But I hope Jesse realises we’ve been good for him as well, and that he joined a club on the up.”
This week, Moyes’ assistant Stuart Pearce stoked the fire even more by revealing that the club does indeed want to re-sign Lingard before August 31st. He told talkSPORT:
“We would like him to come and join us. That has been an open secret. He was wonderful last year. The ball is in Manchester United’s court. He is contracted to them. We would like him with us, there is no doubt about that. He’s a special lad and was very good around the players – the players really like him.”
