Fiorentina are reportedly set to demand a ‘monster offer’ for Liverpool target Dusan Vlahovic in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, as transcribed by Sport Witness, Fiorentina do not want to sell Vlahovic and will only entertain gigantic bids for their forward. The Italian club are hoping to insert a release clause into his contract with a view to a transfer away from the club in 2022.
The report claims Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keeping tabs on the Serbian international.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Whilst this may appear to be a blow for Liverpool, it could actually be a blessing in disguise for Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer. Klopp has already ruled out any huge money deals for players in the transfer window, which means that a ‘monster offer’ for Vlahovic is incredibly unlikely for Liverpool as it stands. Therefore, Vlahovic does not appear to be a viable target for Liverpool right now, but that could change in 12 months.
Liverpool’s finances have been damaged by Covid-19 and the return of fans to grounds from the start of next season could help them rebuild their transfer chest ahead of the summer of 2022. This means that they could be in a better position, financially, in 2022 to pursue a deal for Vlahovic to bolster their attacking options, which is why Fiorentina wanting to keep him for an extra year could end up being a boost for the Reds.
Vlahovic ended the Serie A season with 21 goals and three assists in 34 starts. It will be interesting to see whether or not the 21-year-old forward will be able to replicate his impressive form in front of goal for another season. Liverpool could now have another year to scout him and make sure that he is the right fit for their squad.
