Portugal take on Germany in the final of the European U21 Championship on Sunday, and Diogo Dalot has arguably been the unsung hero of the tournament so far.

Portugal U21
Fresh off the back of an impressive season on loan from Manchester United at AC Milan, Dalot has been an ever-present for Portugal, playing every minute of his side’s five matches thus far and showing his versatility by playing right-back and left-back when required.
The 22-year-old’s stats at the tournament make for interesting reading too …
- 29 ball recoveries
- 28 interceptions
- 9 duels won
- 15 crosses
Dalot was part of the Portugal squad which won the European U17 Championship in 2016 and this year he could win it again at U21 level.
It is the only trophy Portugal are yet to win internationally, and Dalot has played a big part in their run to the final.
Bravo.
