CHELSEA LEADING RACE FOR NAPOLI’S VICTOR OSIMHEN
Premier League side Chelsea are currently leading the race to land Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian did sign a new deal with the Partenopei some weeks ago but that will not stop a potential exit, as he has a release clause of €120 million in the contract.
Il Mattino have reported that Osimhen’s comments in an interview with CBS are right to scare Napoli fans, as it seems likely that he will depart in the summer. Clubs will have to pay the release clause in his deal and that is exactly what club CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis wants.
Chelsea are leading the race for the striker, who has never hidden his dream of playing in the Premier League. Osimhen’s current plan is to win the AFCON with Nigeria before finishing the season well with the club and then moving on. As of now, it is more about Napoli waiting for the right offer to sell the former Lille player.
In the summer, Saudi Arabian clubs had made attempts for the player but De Laurentiis had demanded a huge amount of fee and as a result, Osimhen stayed at the club.
