BAYERN MUNICH ARE LOOKING TO SIGN NEWCASTLE’S KIERAN TRIPPIER
s reported by The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, Bayern Munich have added Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier to their list of targets this January.
After the signing of Eric Dier, Bayern have turned their attention to adding further defensive reinforcement and, more specifically, a right-back. It had appeared that a deal for PSG’s Nordi Mukiele was edging closer; however, talks appear to have stalled with the Parisians.
As reported by Nathan Gissing, Der Rekordmeister consider Trippier to be a more attainable alternative to Mukiele at this moment in time. As well as this, the Englishman is still close to Harry Kane from their time shared at Tottenham Hotspur and with the English National Team, meaning that he would quickly be able to adapt to the Bayern dressing room.
It is understood that while Newcastle would be reluctant to let go of Trippier, they would be willing to allow him to leave on loan. This is something that Bayern are prioritising, as the return of Josip Stanišić in the summer means that they will then have cover in the right-back department.
Therefore, a move for Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey is practically off the table, as the Turkish champions would only be interested in selling the Frenchman.
