MESSI SCORES TWO TO CONTINUE INCREDIBLE INTER MIAMI START 

Another Lionel Messi brace saw Inter Miami scrape past Orlando City into the Leagues Cup round of 16.

Scorers: Messi 7′, 72′, Martínez (P) 51′ ; Araújo 17′

After a lengthy weather delay, the two teams entered a water-logged pitch in the late Miami evening.

As is normal now, Messi left an early mark on the game. After being picked out by a superb Robert Taylor ball over the top, the Argentine chested the pass down before firing into the roof of the net to give Miami the lead.

While Tata Martino’s men probed for a second, Orlando responded with a tally of their own through César Araújo just 10 minutes later.

A shock at Messi’s home would not be on the cards however, as Josef Martínez gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot after the break.

Miami’s win was all but wrapped up in the final 20 minutes by Messi, once again, who secured his brace and fired the Herons into the round of 16.
