The winners this evening knew they would be playing Inter in the semi-finals later this month, with both sides putting out something approaching their best XIs.
It was actually the away side who looked more dangerous early on as Mattia Zaccagni curled an effort around Danilo but also past the far post.
The Bianconeri were looking out of ideas in possession and it wasn’t until the 30th minute that they had a chance on goal but Adrien Rabiot’s header was saved with ease.
But right on the stroke of half time it was the Old Lady who took the lead as Gleison Bremer headed in past Luis Maximiano in the visitors goal.
Into the second half and once again Maurizio Sarri’s side were the ones pushing for the equaliser but through a mix of poor finishing and resolute home defending, the goal didn’t come.
Angel Di Maria was introduced late on to try and inject some life into the Juve attack but despite his best efforts the second goal was proving elusive.
It didn’t matter though as Juve held out for a narrow win
