PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma says leaving AC Milan was his decision alone.
The Italy Euro 2020 winner insists agent Mino Raiola did not influence his choice.
He said, “There are decisions that require more time to think. My professional choices, I have always taken them alone. My family has always given me free rein and has always supported me. The same goes for Mino (Raiola). He always respects the choices of his players, after which he obviously seeks to satisfy their will.
“I left Milan and had no contact with any other club, I swear. But I was sure that with a good Euro, a club would have contacted me.
“When I signed, the president told me: ‘We are finally together’. Now I am very happy and very relaxed. Last season, Paris did not win Ligue 1, but the real goal is another: the Champions League.
“Paris has always followed me.”
On the decision to leave, Donnarumma also stated: “I wouldn’t want to talk about the last season, it wouldn’t make sense today. I spent eight years in Milan, it was my home, I had wonderful moments there. I have a lot of respect for all the people who work at the club, Milan is a club that still gives me emotion today.
“But life is made of choices, I had different ambitions. I will forever remain a club tifoso. I needed to change to grow, improve and become the strongest. I felt the need for new spaces, for a new reality.
“The bandiere (player remaining with the same club for an entire career) no longer exists? Of course yes. But club and player must share the same program.”
