🇪🇺 Rashford wins it for England; Dutch victory; Adams is Scots hero

It was another busy day of international friendlies as some leading nations got in their final preparations for Euro 2020.

England 1-0 Romania

Scorers: Rashford (PEN) 68′

England’s preparations for Euro 2020 ended in mixed fashion as Romania were beaten 1-0 at the Riverside but struggled to break down their resolute opponents.

Gareth Southgate made plenty of changes for their second pre-Euro 2020 friendly as Ben White, Ben Godfrey and Sam Johnstone all made their first ever starts.

England had most of the ball in the opening exchanges but it was actually Romania who had the first chance of the game as Gabriel Marin found some space in the area but hit his first time effort straight at Johnstone.

It was left to Dominic Calvert-Lewin to go closest on 30 minutes as James Ward-Prowse’s free kick met the head of the Everton man but his superb header rattled back off the crossbar.

The best passage of play though, came near the end as Sancho and Grealish linked up brilliantly on the edge of the area with the Dortmund forward curling an effort off the bar.

Into the second half and England thought they had opened the scoring immediately but Calvert-Lewin’s close-range effort was blocked by goalkeeper Constantin Nita.

With 67 minutes gone though, England eventually did break the deadlock.

Jack Grealish weaved his way through the Romania defence and got brought down inside the penalty area, and there was Marcus Rashord to convert the penalty.

Romania weren’t done however and should have scored soon after were it not for a remarkable reflect save from Johnstone.

The Three Lions should have doubled their advantage soon after when they were awarded another penalty, but Jordan Henderson’s effort was saved well.

Netherlands 3-0 Georgia

Scorers: Depay (PEN) 10′, Weghorst 51′, Gravenbach 78′

Memphis Depay became the first Dutch player since Robin van Persie to score in four consecutive games for his country, netting inside the opening 10 minutes here.

Georgia put up a good fight in the first half though and contained the Dutch to just one goal.

But the Netherlands grabbed their second after the break as Wout Weghorst finished well.

And the Dutch completed their Euro preparations in fine style as Ryan Gravenbach added a third with 15 minutes remaining.

Luxembourg 0-1 Scotland

Scorers: Adams 27′

Steve Clarke named his strongest possible side here and watched as recent cap-winner Che Adams opened the scoring after 27 minutes.

There was some frustrating for the Scots though as Luxembourg were reduced to 10 men just moments later Vahid Salimomvic was given his marching orders.

The second half was a slight damp squib as both sides saw out the rest of the game with relative ease.
